Monument to the Great Kobzar is installed along the Sumska street, on the main alley of the Taras Shevchenko Garden. Creative heritage of Taras Shevchenko – poet, writer, artist and philosopher – is one of the main assets of the Ukrainian people. The rebel poet held revolutionary views, and his patriotic works were support for the fighters for Ukrainian independence. Taras Shevchenko Monument is the statue of the poet himself, surrounded by the heroes of his works, which symbolizes the trials endured by the poet himself and the entire Ukrainian people. During the creation of monument to its author, sculptor Matthew Manizer, “Berezil” theater actors were posed (now the Ukrainian drama theater named after TG Shevchenko “).
