The monument to Cossack Kharko – mythical founder of Kharkiv – was presented to town by the Municipality of Moscow on the initiative of Yuri Luzhkov. The author of it is an odious sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. This is the first equestrian statue in the city. During the ceremony of the monument opening at its foot was buried metal capsule with a message to future generations of Kharkiv.
